Dose Splitter

Divide chemical into safer multiple additions.

Each Addition:

How the Dose Splitter Works

This calculator divides one large chemical dose into smaller equal additions. Enter the total amount of product and the number of additions you want to make. The calculator returns the amount to add each time.

Splitting large doses can reduce dramatic water chemistry swings and gives the pool time to circulate before additional chemicals are added.

Why Split Chemical Doses?

Large corrections can overshoot the target or create temporary areas of highly concentrated chemicals. Smaller additions are easier to control and allow test results to be verified before continuing.

When to Use This Tool

  • Large pH adjustments.
  • Big alkalinity corrections.
  • High calcium additions.
  • Large chlorine treatments when recommended.
  • Any situation where gradual adjustment is safer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I wait between additions?

Yes. Allow the pump to circulate the water and retest when appropriate before adding the next portion.

Can every chemical be split?

Many pool chemicals can be added in stages, but always follow the product label and manufacturer recommendations.

Pool Gal Pro Tip 💦

If a correction looks huge, slow down. Two or three smaller additions are usually easier to manage than trying to hit the target all at once.
